In the late 80’s, Managing Director, Matt Rowling, saw that there were few surveying companies specifically focussed on the construction industry. In 1990, with some modest equipment, ESO Surveyors was born.
Over the next few years ESO Surveyors began supplying survey solutions to road construction and civil sites throughout NSW.
ESO Surveyors opened its first shop-front office in the busy beachside suburb of Freshwater, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, in 1995.
In 2000, ESO Surveyors merged with the firm Consurv Pty Ltd, retaining its Managing Director, Campbell Blogg, as the General Manager of the new, expanded ESO Surveyors.
ESO Surveyors expanded its activities into Queensland in November 2005 when we opened the doors of our Brisbane branch office in Northgate. Local surveyor, Adam Skapin took up the challenge of the operation and is still at the helm today. This office has been engaged on many iconic building and infrastructure projects around Brisbane and throughout regional Queensland.
In 2008 ESO opened an Adelaide branch office in Hindmarsh. Like the Brisbane operation, this office provides professional services to projects in Adelaide and regional South Australia. Local surveyor, Chris Staak, has been with ESO in Adelaide since 2009 and is now in the role of State Manager.
Also in 2008, Sydney Head Office moved to its current location in Frenchs Forest.
In 2010 ESO began servicing projects in Victoria. This office has since been involved in state significant projects such as the $1bill Macarthur Wind Farm and the $450mill Peninsula Link project. State Manager, Marcus Jennings-Sykes has been Manager of our Victorian operation since its inception.
ESO is focussed on its core business which is providing surveying solutions to construction sites.
Our company is divided into four separate state-based operational divisions each headed by its own experienced Manager.
Each division operates in accordance with our company Quality and Safety systems and each office is routinely audited by external consultants.
We are intent on keeping up to date with the rapid technological advancements prevalent in our industry. ESO now owns and operates Laser Scanners, SmartNet GNSS Rovers, GNSS Reference Stations, 12D Field Controller Software and Machine Guidance software.
Our company understands the importance of continually enhancing our team members’ skills through training in software, equipment and safety. We financially support team members who are completing tertiary studies in surveying and related fields.
Our success has been due to understanding the fundamentals of professional service:-
- Provide good people,
- With the right equipment,
- Working with quality and safety systems,
- At competitive prices.
In the years ahead, ESO will continue to be dedicated to providing the best possible service for our clients whilst “setting the bar” ever higher for our competitors. Our staff will continue to be highly trained and fully supported by management.
The professional way we run our business and our dedication to our staff’s safety on work sites is represented by our independently certified Quality (ISO9001) and Safety Management (AS4801) systems. These systems have been developed using over twenty five years of experience and expertise and will underpin the next phase of growth.
As infrastructure projects continue to roll out, our aim is to provide the first, and best, Survey choice for contractors anywhere in Australia.
